Scenic Rim Regional Council
The Scenic Rim region is home to more than 34,000 people, covering an area of 4,250sq km. Located an hour south of Brisbane and an hour inland from the Gold Coast the region is best Known for its breathtaking scenery. Its main towns are Beaudesert, Boonah, Rathdowney, Kooralbyn, Kalbar, Aratula, Canungra, Tamborine Mountain, Harrisville and Peak Crossing. The region's primary businesses are agricultural/horticultural production, the equine industry and tourism/ecotourism.
